Imagine if Django Reinhardt gained the use of all five fingers and crossed paths with Jaco Pastorius in his artistic journey: semi-acoustic swing with sizzling grooves!
While Django remains the primary inspiration behind the trio, in his Modern Manouche Project, Sicilian-born and Milan-based Dario Napoli aims to incorporate more contemporary influences into his version of gypsy swing. He introduces elements from modern musical styles such as bebop, funk, and modern jazz. The trio has been featured in several prominent jazz and jazz manouche festivals and events, including JazzMi, Duc des Lombards in Paris, Django in June (USA), Django Amsterdam, Djangofollies Brussels, Cloughtoberfest, Django sur Lennon, Cully Jazzfest, Eddie Lang Jazzfest, Valdarno Jazz, Trasimeno Blues, Liverpool Philharmonic, Pizza Express London, and more.
The result is an unpredictable and exuberant sound that borrows from various musical eras, taking the listener on a rich and vibrant sonic journey while never entirely abandoning Django’s gypsy imprint.
